The school's well dressing showed a close up of St Chad. Chad was Bishop of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia from 669 to 672 and probably lived on the site where our church dedicated to him now stands. |

School Well Dressing very cleverly represented "a time to be born,
and a time to die", the left hand side of the picture showing the
sun rising on a newly born baby and the right hand side depicting depicting
night and death. |

In 2000,
for the first time, there was a second well dressing, created by Year
6 children from St. Chad's School. |

1999
THE 1999 Well Dressing aimed to promote the Jubilee 2000 Campaign,
an international campaign for the cancellation of the unpayable debt owed
by the world's poorest countries.The design was based one produced by the Mothers' Union, one of over eighty organisations that are members of the Jubilee 2000 Coalition. |

dressings have focused on St. Chad himself, who according to tradition,
baptised his converts in the well; God's gift to us of himself in the Eucharist;
Jesus as the Way; and the work of Christian Aid. |
