Let
us pray . . .
| |
for
all mankind, created by God in his own image |
| |
for all leaders of people |
| |
for
all those grieving for loved ones, killed in the US |
| |
for
all those currently in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries,
of whatever race, nationality or faith |
| |
for
all those living in fear of what others may do to them |
| |
for
all those living in fear of what they may have to do to others |
| |
for
all those fearful for the safety of their loved ones |
| |
for
those who are confused, hungry, homeless or despairing |
| |
and
for all those who are most dear to us, our families and our
friends |
Dear Lord,
open the hearts of all to your loving presence. At this time of turmoil,
make yourself know to us. Guide us, comfort us and strengthen us,
and, in this uncertain world, inspire us always to keep our hearts
and minds set on the certainties of your kingdom.
Amen.
And
the darkness did not overcome
| |
In
the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came into being through him,
and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being in him was life,
and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1:1-5 |
| |
Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling
gloom,
Lead thou me on;
The night is dark, and I am far from
home,
Lead thou me on.
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.
John Henry Newman
May
the blessing of God almighty
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be upon you and within your home,
this day and always.
