All ministries within St Chad's welcome any person interested in joining in or seeking information.
If any of these areas of service interest you, please make contact with someone on the

Who's Who? page and they can introduce you to the appropriate team.

Leadership Team:

St Chad's Leadership Team consists of 2 clergy and 6 lay members. The Bishop's Mandate for this team was updated in October 2010. The purpose of the team is to assist the PCC in shaping its vision towards mission and ministry and to be a resource for the development of local ministry and ministers.

Baptism Team:

Facilitates the baptism preparation, participates in the baptism service and provides ‘follow up' and support for those new members of our Church family!

Flowers:

We are lucky at St. Chad's to have a group of flower arrangers who use their skills to provide the flowers in church weekly, except during Lent and Advent.  We all get together at the Festivals to decorate the church and enjoy fellowship over a cup of coffee.  We welcome new people to the team, so if you think you'd like to help please contact the Parish Office and leave a message for Sue Watkins.

Hospitality:

Fellowship after our services and at our many church events is an integral part of the community at St Chad's.  As many of us agree, there's nothing like a Cup of Tea! A situation can not fail to be improved on and a friendly atmosphere can not fail to be created when a nice hot cuppa is present!  (Unless it happens to be accompanied by chocolate of course!).  A team of tireless and dedicated people know this to be true and provide this much appreciated service.

Grounds & Buildings:

Faithfully and tirelessly many of St Chad's help maintain and care for the Church, the Church Hall, Well Cottage and the land that surrounds these buildings. Without the many small jobs and some extremely large ones that are taken care of by those special people, St Chad's Church would not be the place you see now!

Servers & Altar Set Up Teams

The serving team consists of twelve members. The Eucharist service requires four servers, one crucifer; two taper bearers, and one to carry the Gospel. Other services usually only require three servers. They fulfil a very important part of the worship at St. Chad's.  In addition several of us are commissioned by the Bishop to assist at communion.  We all feel this is a great privilege.

The set-up team has currently ten members who work in pairs.  They spend about 3/4hr.every Saturday afternoon getting church ready for Sunday worship. After the 8a.m. communion they spend another short time, about 15 minutes, rearranging church for the 9.30 a.m. Eucharist. Our Sacristan, makes these duties so much easier by coming into church midweek, and putting all the linen ready and also is responsible for ordering the candles, the communion wine, the wafers, and the tapers.

A HUGE thank you to the members of the Mothers Union who wash and iron the altar linen.

PASTORAL CARE
Woman standing in cemetery

Our church is very blessed to have many Parishioners who are able to help other Parishioners when needed. We are currently developing a pastoral care team which we hope will develop to meet a real need within our community.

If you are someone, or know of someone who needs some company or an unbiased listening ear, please do ask your Church family by contacting the Parish Office and leaving a message for the Lay Pastoral Care Minister.

Remember
: At some time in our lives we are the helpers and at other times we are the ones being helped. Most of us prefer to be the helper but it is also proper to ask for help when it is needed. Please allow yourself to share in the blessing of being the helper and also let others be blessed as they help you.

PRAYER GROUPS
Picture036.jpg

Prayer is not asking
It is a longing of the soul
It is better in prayer
To have a heart without words
Than words without a heart
(Taken from "The Lord's Prayer" lent course)

A small group of regular worshippers meet once a fortnight to pray for the world, the church, the sick and the bereaved.  The group takes a special interest in requests for personal prayers.  These are referred to the group by the clergy, by requests left on the prayer table in church, by a telephone call from relatives, friends, carers or from the recipient themselves asking for our prayers.

Requests cover many of the situations of life and reflect a wide range of thoughts, feelings and emotions.  The group observes complete confidentiality and maintains a good link with the Rector.

Annual Prayer Groups also run during Lent.
Contact the Parish Office for details

Please feel free to ask for their help, they are there for YOU!

CHADLINKS
Outdoor Barbecue

Chadlinks is our project to continue forging links with the senior residents in the north of the parish.

The 3rd Thursday of each month has continued to be our date with the residents of David Garrick Gardens in Bloomfield Crescent for a short act of worship with hymns, a Bible reading, prayers and discussion. We find that although there is a regular small ecumenical group who meet, others like to join us at ‘special' services.
