School Holidays...

ActivityDay.jpg

Activity days for children aged between five and eleven years usually take place on the following days – Monday of half-term in February, Good Friday, 1, 2 or 3 days at the start of the summer holiday, the Monday of half-term in October and the Monday before Christmas.

The days provide a mix of combined activities and presentations, and a range of hands-on group sessions to try.  We vary these between craft ideas, food activities, dance/drama and outdoor fun.
Our aims for the work are -  1.   to help children feel welcome and safe in the Church building.  2.  to help children to feel to belong to the Church community, and to take part.  3.   to enable children to experience spirituality and to know adults who worship in the Church.

We always welcome new children along – come on the day or pre register at the Parish Office
We always welcome new adult volunteers to help with preparation and on the day
We also welcome young adults 12+ to become Junior Leaders
(looks GREAT on your CV when you are trying to get a paid job!!)

Through the day the children are mostly in small groups, but usually come together at the end for a short informal act of worship at which parents and carers are very welcome.
If you wish to be notified of each event as it comes up, please
email us and we will keep you informed!

Choir

Musical Note 1

St Chads Church choir is really glad that it can involve its young people in this particular area of worship. Currently working with 8 young people (aged between 7-16) in the choir they undertake singing solos, in small groups and with the whole choir. All young people take part in the Royal School of Church Music's (RSCM) Voice for Life project, which promotes learning about the way you sing and the music you sing as well as promoting confidence. The choir director also takes active interest in other singing projects throughout education and integrates them, where possible, into the choirs music. If you would like to find out more for you or your child then please do not hesitate to contact Mitch on mitchellholland2006@yahoo.co.uk or come to St Chads church at 7:00pm on a Friday evening for choir practice. Youth Events

YouthZoneLogo1.jpg

Many 12 - 18 year olds help out with our younger children's groups.  In return we are beginning to build up some social events especially for their own age group.  We have had BBQs, Beetle drives and a pizza/Wii competition event.  We hope to hold something similar again early in 2011.
Please
email us to receive your invite to the next event!!

After School...

SKLogo.jpg

Storykeepers and Friends and Heroes are after-school clubs that meet every week at St Chad's Primary School for an hour of fun and learning. Storykeepers is for Years 3 & 4 and Friends and Heroes for Years 5 and 6.  Both clubs use DVDs that tell Bible stories in lively and engaging ways, as a basis for each session.  Activities include crafts, discussion, games and drama, all linked to the theme for the week.  The sessions end with a prayer, normally led by the children.  Both clubs are organised by teams of volunteers from St Chad's Church.

Jump For Joy!

A time of praise and play for babies, toddlers and pre-school children and their parents/carers.
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month in church at 1.30pm.  We sing songs, listen to stories, make music and have lots of fun.  This lasts for about twenty minutes and is followed by activities for the children, giving parents/carers space for a chat over a cup of tea.
