Other 'Occasional' Services
Baptisms
We offer Baptism to those who are committed to Christ, both adults and children. Baptismal Policy is available from the Parish Office.  For information about Baptism in the Church of England, visit the official website.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the next step on from baptism and is for people of ANY age! It is the opportunity for those who wish to publicly accept their baptismal vows with the laying on of hands by the Bishop. Confirmation classes are usually arranged according to demand and you may obtain further details from the Rector or Parish Office. More information on Confirmation can be found of the official Church of England Website
Weddings
Christian Marriage is offered to those who wish to involve God in their partnership. All couples marrying at St Chad's are offered the chance to attend a session of Marriage preparation. This raises, in an informal way issues of Commitment, Communication and Conflict, and offers some starting points for couples to talk about lasting relationships and building future lives together. For information about marriage in the Church of England, visit the official website
Funerals
Every one has individual needs during this sensitive time. Please contact us directly so we can give you personal advice on how we can help you. Details on how Church of England funerals are conducted can be found HERE.

We pass around a collection plate during the
9.30 & 11.30 Sunday Services.  Please don't feel pressured by this - It is your choice whether or not to give!

During a 'Communion' or 'Eucharist' service there will be a time when everyone is invited to go up to the altar for Communion.  If you already have received Communion (bread/wafer and wine) in other Christian Churches then you may do so at St Chads.  If you are unsure about receiving it, or choose not to, you are more than welcome (young or old) to come up for a blessing instead.  When the other people in your pew go up to the altar, join in and bring your service booklet with you.  This way the vicar will know that you want the blessing rather than the sacrament (bread & wine).
You may choose just to stay in your seat, and that is fine too.

Family - Three Generations

Everyone has a different purpose when coming to Church.  Sometimes a person might want to be alone, sometimes they are there to meet new people.

If you would like to introduce yourself to one of the clergy (or the nearest friendly face!) after the service we would love to spend time getting to know you.

If you have any worries or questions please let the people at the door know. (The ones smiling and saying 'hello' as you come in!)  They can help by finding you someone to sit with and ‘show you the ropes' if that is something you would find helpful.
