Gift Day Appeal

Message to Parishioners

Dear Friends

Many residents from our local community have a link, or pastoral connection, with St Chad’s Church. Our aim is to keep St Chad’s open to the public seven days a week because many people use it as a place of refuge in time of distress or particular need.

This is your parish church. It has been used by local people for major occasions such as baptisms, weddings and funerals, as well as public worship and personal prayer for the best part of a thousand years! In fact, we owe a debt of gratitude to past generations for maintaining the building so that these facilities are here to benefit us today.

Now, it is our turn. We are faced with the task of carrying out a number of repairs to the tower roof, the tower masonry and cracks in the nave brick work, together with improving the heating system in order to maintain the building in a sound condition for future generations.

We are planning to hold a Gift Day on Saturday 8th September to coincide with the Well Dressing. We are asking people living in the parish to make a special gift to the church to help towards these repairs. This will help ensure that the church is here to serve you and your families in years to come.

With my best wishes.

Your friend and parish priest,
Robert Bull

Rector of St Chad’s Church, Lichfield.
