A warm welcome from your Rector

Greetings and welcome to St Chad's Web site the virtual home of St Chad's Church, Lichfield.

St Chad's has an ancient past, a lively present and a hope-filled future! I hope that you will enjoy navigating your way around this site.

Should you wish to visit the church it is situated on St Chad's Road, Lichfield with an impressive aspect overlooking Stowe Pool in the direction of the city and Lichfield Cathedral.

At St Chad's the door stands open each day giving access to any who wish to experience a place of prayer and Christian witness that reaches back thirteen hundred years to the time when Chad was commissioned to bring the gospel to Mercia. This website helps to tell the ongoing story of that faith community today.

St Chad's Church is an active worshipping community situated within the Church of England Diocese of Lichfield

Mission Statement

At St. Chad's we try to live our lives according to the teaching of Jesus and put God at the centre of our lives and of our service to others.

1.  We aim to be a focal point for prayer, worship and service in this parish.
2.  We value each person and their contribution to the life of St. Chad's and are committed to providing guidance and nurture for the development of their faith.
3.  We actively seek to establish God's kingdom in this place by:-
(i) sharing the gospel
(ii) providing a welcoming and open community
(iii) a caring and loving service to all who live in the parish

In this new millennium we will strive to be aware of, and respond to the needs of all people in the community with a particular focus on those who suffer deprivation.

St Chad's Church Building

St Chad's church building is a Grade II Listed Building whose history will be outlined in some detail on this website shortly.  We have recently completed a major refurbishment work to the Church building after a kind bequest and a major fundraising campaign within the parish.  We would like to say a HUGE WELL DONE to all the members of St Chad's Parish, especially those who are not necessarily regular Church goers, but people who have recognised the value of the church within the local community and donated kindly with the wish for the church to remain in good repair, for future generations to enjoy.

St Chad's Well

St Chad's Well has been for hundreds of years a site of pilgrimage and of historic significance.  Originally the site which is thought to be where St Chad himself chose to baptise early Christian converts of Mercia.  We shall be adding more information to this website shortly which will describe the development of the Church Buildings, the Well and of Saint Chad after whom the Church is named.

Memorial Book

Situated in the rear of the Church beside the entrance to the Clergy Vestry, we have a memorial book standing in a wooden display box.  This is a special and unique way of recording within St Chad's Church the memory of a loved one who has died. It is a welcome option for those who are not represented in other ways for example: a gravestone.  For a small donation the name and date of birth will be entered in calligraphy on the page dated with the date of death.  Please contact the Parish Office for details.

Keeping St Chad's for the Future

If you want to ensure St Chad's Church is there to serve the parish in the years to come, do consider joining the Friends or donating to the Church in some other way.  We are part of the government's Gift Aid Scheme and have the facilities to accept electronic donations.

Please contact us if you think you could help keep our lovely Church working hard to help the present and future people of Lichfield!
